What is EMDR?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an extensively researched, effective psychotherapy method proven to help people recover from trauma and other distressing life experiences, including PTSD, anxiety, depression, and panic disorders. Learn more at www.EMDRIA.org.

Do you accept insurance?

At this time, I do not accept any insurance plans.  However, many insurance plans offer reimbursement rates for out of network providers, and I am able to provide you with a super bill at the end of each month for you to submit to your insurance company.  Please note that submitting for insurance does require a mental health diagnosis, which we can further discuss if needed.

How often can we meet?

For most clients, once a week is best in the beginning.  Often, we can reduce sessions to bi-weekly when you are feeling ready to spread treatment out.  Some clients choose to stay on for monthly maintenance sessions.  After 4-6 weeks, we typically discuss your progress and treatment goals and determine which is best for you.

What is your cancellation policy?

I require 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel your appointment, or the full session fee will be charged to your account.  Occasional exceptions can be made for emergencies, and I am willing to be as flexible as possible, but consistency is important for your progress and minimizing rescheduling helps to ensure that other clients are being seen consistently as well.

How can I know if you’re a good fit?

Let’s talk! I can provide a free 15 minute phone consultation to learn more about you, answer your questions and determine if we will be a good match to meet your needs.  You can schedule this by emailing me at mendedlifecounseling@gmail.com or using the form on the Contact Us page.

Do you prescribe medication?

No, in the state of Missouri only licensed medical doctors can prescribe medications.  If you are wondering if medication might be right for you, I will be happy to discuss your symptoms and help you to document the information necessary to take to your doctor to initiate that discussion.
